Parcourant l\u2019histoire de l\u2019Europe depuis 1880, date de naissance de Meier, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 nos jours, Sluszny, qui est aussi r\u00e9alisatrice et monteuse de documentaires, construit son roman en tissant diff\u00e9rents fils narratifs qui, petit \u00e0 petit, reconstituent \u00e0 travers le destin d\u2019un homme, celui d\u2019un continent. Le travail de m\u00e9moire auquel se livre l\u2019\u00e9crivain illustre bien ce paradoxe de la fiction que r\u00e9sumait Aragon dans son invitation au \u00ab\u00a0mentir-vrai\u00a0\u00bb. Marianne Sluszny revient sur ces th\u00e8mes dans Le Fr\u00e8re du pendu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thomas, jeune cin\u00e9aste d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9 par sa rupture avec Rivka, \ufb01lle de juifs orthodoxes, d\u00e9couvre dans un coffre lui appartenant une s\u00e9rie de cahiers racontant la vie d\u2019un a\u00efeul de son ex-\ufb01anc\u00e9e, un certain Meier, n\u00e9 en 1880 \u00e0 Siedlice en Pologne.
